Parent Support Outreach Program (PSOP)
This program was designed to reduce or remove barriers to child safety, family and child well-being and initially implemented with screened out child protection reports on families who had children in the home under the age of 10. Service decisions are based on the needs assessment of the family and the family’s interest in specific services. Service options include case management, counseling and therapy referrals, education and activities that enhance parent/child interaction. Also included is the provision of basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.
The program was expanded in July 2006 to accept outside referrals, such as
- Self referrals from families at risk of child maltreatment,
- Screened out child maltreatment reports,
- Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) families at risk of child maltreatment,
- Community referrals of families at risk of child maltreatment
This is a voluntary program, and any outside referrals must have a signed release of information by the family to our agency before a referral will be accepted.
