Position Objectives:

Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services (DVHHS) currently has a full time opening for a Human Resources Specialist.  Primary job duties the effective administration of a variety of human resources programs including; employee recruitment, training and onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, employment law compliance, personnel policy development and implementation, and maintaining personnel files. The incumbent also performs a variety of administrative and support functions in the health and human services agency. 

 

Minimum qualifications of education and experience for this position:

Two years of course work with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, or a related field, and three years of para-professional/technical human resources experience; or a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration or a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

 

Preferred qualifications: Excellent skills including MS Word and Excel; effective verbal and written communication skills; general knowledge of various employment laws and practices; experience in administration of benefits and other Human Resources programs; excellent interpersonal skills; skills in database management and record keeping; ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality; excellent organizational skills; ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; and ability to gather and analyze information skillfully

This position is classified in Grade 12 of the DVHHS Compensation Plan with a full pay range of $26.00 - $33.10 per hour.

 

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with a full benefit package which includes Public Employee Retirement pension.
